Mapping material shading parameters
- [Instructor] Texture mapping, or simply mapping, is the process of varying some material parameter across its surface. In this case we will map the base color of this physical material, to apply some stripes on to the propeller. And I've already got the material editor open, and I'm displaying the parameters of this drone propeller physical material. There are many ways to add a map. One way is to click on the map button, that is found next to a material parameter's spinner, or color swatch. To add a map to the base color here, I'll click on this rectangle which is a button to add a map. Click on that, and another version of the Material Map Browser opens, listing all of the maps that we could potentially apply to this parameter. I'm using Arnold, as my renderer. And because I have Legacy 3ds Max map support enabled, I'm able to add any one of these legacy, or general maps. And it could be a bitmap image, but I'm going to use one of these procedural maps, or internally generated…
