- [Instructor] Let's look at various ways to measure distance in the scene, as well as surface area and volume. The most basic way to measure distance is with a tape helper from the Create panel. Choose Helpers. Click Tape. And then click and drag in the viewport to define the tape helper's head and its target. Right-click to exit creation mode, and then go over to the Modify panel. And as long as that tape helper is selected, we can read out the length, which is the distance between the helper and its target, and also these angular values. But as soon as we select any other object, including that target, we will lose that parameter display. We can work around that by pinning the modifier stack. Select the tape helper head and click Pin Stack. And now regardless of what's selected, we'll still be able to see those parameters.
