Merging scenes

- [Instructor] One of the most common commands in scene layout is merge, which will allow you to import another 3ds Max document into the current scene. And that's done from the file menu, file import. And there are a bunch of commands in here. If you want to import a foreign file format such as an AutoCAD scene, then you would choose import. But if you want to bring in another 3ds Max scene, choose merge. The merge file dialog opens up, and we want to choose a .max document to import into the current scene. The one I have open currently is 03_05_merge.max. And I've got three more .max files, beam, column and cross beam. Each one of these is a part of a pergola, which has a shade structure for vines to grow on. I'll choose 03_05_merge_column.max and click open. Then we get the merge dialogue, in which we need to choose which components of the scene we want to merge. And there's only one object in here. I'll choose that…
