Modeling with the Extrude modifier
- [Instructor] One of the most common applications of spline modeling is to extrude a spline to create a 3D object. We'll use that to create some walls for our courtyard. I've got my scene set up with units of meters, and I'm going to snap in 3D and go over to the create panel, to shapes and click on rectangle. click and drag in the top viewport and draw out a square centered on the origin release the mouse and right-click to exit that object. With that rectangle primitive is still selected. We can go over to the modified panel, and make it much larger. We'll give it a length of 20 meters press tab and also a width of 20 meters and press enter. And let's just grab the move tool and make sure it's centered on the world. So it's got X, Y, and Z position values of zero. Then we can zoom extensa, all selected and zoom all the viewports out to enclose that rectangle primitive. If we extrude this, now we'll just get a box…
