Modeling curvature with Soft Selection
- [Instructor] Subdivision service modeling is a method of using limited control points to produce a highly curved or smooth flowing surface. We can achieve similar results on raw polygon meshes using soft selection, which gives us the region of influence around selected sub objects. And we can actually combine soft selection with subdivision surface modeling to get an even higher level of control. I've got a version of the task chair seat cushion here. Let's activate the modeling ribbon, if it's not already visible. Click show ribbon, and we want to be in modify mode, so click modify mode, and we're now at the level of the open subdiv and we need to be at the level of the editable poly. So go down the stack by clicking previous modifier until you see editable poly and it's now selected in the modify panel. I'll orbit with Alt and middle mouse button and currently, I have show end result turned off. I could turn that on…
