node-based programming environment for developing scripted plugins. For a non-programmer like myself, the way to get started with MCG is to modify existing graphs. In this exercise, we'll make some minor user interface modifications to a tool provided by Autodesk in the MCG Samples Pack. in the previous movie in this weekly series. If you haven't already followed the steps in getting started with Max Creation Graph, please do so now before proceeding. To modify an existing tool, we'll want to make a copy of the tool first. That way, we can't mess up the existing tool. For most files such as a 3ds Max scene, it's a simple matter to make a copy of the file and rename it, but MCG is different. We can't just copy and rename .maxtool or .maxcompound files. This is because MCG uses a system of ID numbers called GUID to prevent conflicts between different versions of a Max tool or a Max compound graph file.
