Motion capture setup
- [Instructor] Whilst motion and performance capture have become words and techniques that many people are well-acquainted with, due in part to their wholesale use in the world of big-budget movies and games, something that we may sometimes forget is that much simpler forms of motion-capture can be used to animate rigs of all kinds inside 3ds Max. For instance, as we investigate our robot arm rig here, we can see that we have the ability to control a wide range of motions, that include both position and rotation data. And of course, we could animate all of these using standard keyframe animation techniques. Often times though, a more fluid approach to creating animation is going to be desired. And so, what we're going to look at in this exercise is how we might go about setting up a simple motion-capture system for this rig, right here inside 3ds Max.
