The Override material
- [Instructor] In this exercise, we're going to switch focus a little and move away from the surface materials that we've been creating so far, and take a look instead at one of the many utility materials that V-Ray 5 also makes available. This being the override material as found in the material map browser. Do be careful not to confuse this with the override material option that can be found in the global switches section of the render setup dialog. The override material itself is essentially a ray switcher that can be used to control not only GI rays in our scene but also reflection, refraction, and shadow rays as well should we have a need to. To help us see how this works, we have a scene set up in which the concrete of the floor has had a red dye added to it in order to give it a bit of a wine core effect.
