Painting on objects with Viewport Canvas

- [Voiceover] We've seen how to use procedural maps. We've seen how to import bit maps into a 3D scene. Now let's look at how to actually directly paint onto a surface and create a bitmap within 3ds Max. It's a very cool feature called viewport canvas. For it to work well, you must have good mapping coordinates on the object or good UVs and this truncated icosahedron polyhedral object does not have good UVs on it currently. We can add that really easily. Select the object and go into the modifier list in the modify panel and add a UVW map modifier. And just simply choose spherical mapping and that's all there is to that. We've got pretty good UVs on it now. Let's open up the Viewport Canvas panel. It's in the Tools menu. Tools, Viewport Canvas, it's down here. First thing we need to do is assign a material.
