Pre-render vs. post-render detailing

- [Instructor] So the course is divided in two main areas, pre-render and post-render. So just so you can understand what these means, what this division means. Basically, everything that's pre-rendered is the things we have to do before we press the render button, and post-render is everything we have to do after the render is complete. So I'll just go over some of the things that we would do pre and post-render, so you can better understand what I mean by this vision. So pre-render we have modeling, so any changes that we do in the actual models, any changes in the geometry of the models. There's also position. We can move things around in the scene. There are also a few objects that we're going to add to add more complexity to the overall scene. There's also camera angles or composition. We will not cover composition in greater detail because it's a very vast and complex subject, but we will go over briefly so that we can understand roughly what composition can do for your scene, but I strongly encourage you to study for yourself. There are also Render Settings that we can tweak to have a better final result, and Render Elements that can really help us in the post-production phase of our production. When it comes to post-render, we can tweak color balance. We can tweak exposure and overall lighting even though we want our lighting to be as close to the final result as possible within 3ds Max. There are a few minor tweaks that we can do inside an image editing software, such as Photoshop, so that we don't have to redo the whole render if we encounter any sort of issues or problems. We also can add chromatic aberrations to our image to make it closer to a photograph, and we can add and edit the Render Elements that we added before rendering this scene. So these are basically everything that we will cover in this course. There are some other things that are not listed here, but these are the main areas that we're going to focus on.
