- [Instructor] Wireframe rendering in 3ds Max has traditionally been a very basic feature. We had little or no control over the wireframe parameters other than color, but that's all changed with the introduction of the OSL Wireframe map. This week we'll see how to apply the Wireframe map and next week, we'll look at art directing the scene for various effects, such as a classic hidden line rendering. Let's start by creating a new physical material, drag a selection rectangle to select these two rocks, open up the material editor and right click in the view, choose materials general physical material, select that new physical material and rename it rocks, and then click assign material to selection. Very importantly, for an accurate OSL preview, the material needs to be in realistic mode and not in the default shaded mode.
