Spawning particles from a 3D map

is an advanced, node-based environment for creating dynamic particle systems. This week we will use PFlow to spawn particles from a 3D volumetric texture map. This technique allows us to quickly and easily arc direct the random placement of particles in a star field effect. I have a scene ready with a camera and a box, click PF Source. Click and drag anywhere in the Perspective view and then right click to exit that tool. Go into its modify panel, and in the Emission roll-out, under Quantity Viewport percent, set that to 100 percent. Then in the Setup roll-out, click the button labeled Particle View to launch the PFlow editor. And the particle view window may have some display glitches. If you're not seeing anything displayed here, then re-size the window and it should refresh. And at the bottom you should see the operator depot. If you're not seeing that, then you can hover your mouse near the bottom of the window until you can drag out the operator depot and make it large enough…
