Resumable rendering

- [Narrator] Ever since I first encountered resumable rendering in fry render for 3ds Max many years ago now, I've been waiting for something similar to appear in V-Ray, which of course it did in the form of the resumable rendering checkbox found in the render setup dialogues frame of the rollout when using the V-Ray Next engine that is. The basic idea being that we can stop a render at any point in the process and then have that render resume from where it left off at a later time, or even weeks down the line. A feature that can be a real lifesaver if the render is stopped because of some external problems, such as a power failure or such. The option is usable with both the Book It and progressive sampling engines, although it does work slightly differently in each case. When using Book It rendering, an additional .viaimg file, which is a V-Ray specific version of the raw file format is written to disk in order to temporarily store the data When we resume the rendering, V-Ray reads…
