Sculpting a terrain with Texture Object Mask

- [Instructor] In a previous movie in this weekly series we saw how to use a bitmap to displace a terrain using a space-warp and that movie is called Modeling Terrain with a Displace Space Warp. We're going to build on that now. Instead of using a bitmap, which is a fixed grid of pixels, we'll use a procedural texture or a noise map and that's a 3D texture and it's not resolution dependent. It gives us some advantages. We can, for example, create a very, very small and a very, very large pattern on the terrain at the same time. Additionally, we can change the pattern itself very easily by adjusting parameters on that procedural texture. But procedural textures have one well-known disadvantage, which is that they are notoriously difficult to art direct. For example, in this case I want a terrain that is mountainous in the distance, far away from the camera, but a flatter plane here in the foreground near the camera.
