- [Instructor] Assigning materials and where to assign them is an artistic choice. We're talking about the actual look of an object. Not the material as in steel or stone or something else that Revit believes it to be made of. But in this case, what are these polygons covered on their surface with? I'm going to look at my materials through on 3ds Max. I'll often assign things here in 3ds Max having left them generic in Revit. Not that I can't assign materials in Revit but sometimes it's easier specially more iteratively to design here and then transfer back if need be. What I'll do first is see what do I need to assign. Pressing M to pull up my slate material editor. I'll roll up the Autodesk material library and look at the Scene Materials. In here, we can see is I've got a couple of generics and defaults and some other concrete and CMUs running around.
