Setting preferences

- [Instructor] When setting up a new installation of 3ds Max or even a new user, we want to go into the preferences and make a couple of key changes. In the main menu, go to customize, preferences. Within this dialogue, we have a bunch of tabs and by default, we're taken to the general tab. The number of scene undo levels is currently highlighted. And that's the number of undos that are stored in memory. I find that I usually need to increase this, because if I've made a mistake in a complicated 3D program like Max, I probably need to go back more than 20 steps. I'll set the scene undo to 100 and that of course will eat more memory. The higher that number is, the more steps will be stored in RAM. Moving on to the files tab, kind of importantly I think it's a good idea to enable this switch that says convert local file paths to relative. I'll turn that on.
