Setting preferences
- [Narrator] 3ds Max has many preferences, which are stored for the current user, allowing you to set up the system the way you want it for your particular needs. Let's do that, we'll go in to the Customize menu and choose Preferences. And there are numerous tabs here. In the General tab at the upper left, we see Scene Undo levels. And I do generally increase this. Twenty levels of undo may seem like a lot but in 3D programs, it's quick common that we will need more than 20 levels of undo so I'll turn that up to a value of 100. Just type that in. Let's go over to the Files tab now, and I do recommend that you enable Convert local file paths to Relative. Turn that on. This has to do with how a file path or a directory path is displayed in 3ds Max. As we'll see a little bit later, 3ds Max relies on a project folder structure to track the links between all sorts of different files such as 3ds Max scene files, texture files, and so on.
