- [Narrator] Also when setting up a new install of 3DS Max or a new user, we want to go into the customize preferences dialog and make a couple changes in there. So in the main menu go to customize, preferences, and we have a bunch of tabs here. By default, we'll see the general tab selected, and the scene undo levels is highlighted. And this is the number of undos that are stored in memory. I find that I usually need to increase this, because if I've made a mistake in a complicated 3D program, I probably need to go back more than 20 steps. I'll set the scene undo to 100. And of course that will eat more memory. The higher that number is, the more steps will be stored in ram. Down here in layer defaults, I just want to point this out. This is what I was talking about in an earlier movie, when we choose the tool options in the customize UI and defaults options. And that is whether we want an object to inherit the properties of its enclosing layer or not. And this is currently disabled,…
