of a 3ds Max shading network. For example, Arnold can find the curvature of a surface and map that information onto a shading property such as color. In this exercise, we'll use the Arnold Curvature node to render the flat areas of this terrain in a different color than the bumpy areas. I want to start by adding a normal map to introduce some bumpiness onto the surface. And that's going to be a flakes map. We'll find it in the Maps section under Arnold, Surface... Flakes. So drag that over. And double-click it. And rename it Normal Map. So that we can see what it's doing, let's temporarily connect it to the base_color of that Arnold Standard Surface. And the color changes to purple and if you've ever worked with normal maps, that's a color you're quite familiar with. Now that we can see what's happening here, we can play around with the Normal Map parameters. We have scale and size and these are kind of unfortunately named.
