- [Instructor] Now before we begin, I want to stress one important lesson The software doesn't matter. In this course we're going to be using Maya and Blender to illustrate the 12 principles of animation, but at the end of the day if you're using something like 3D Max or Cinema 4D, you can still follow along because all the animation software has similar buttons, functions, and capabilities too. Plus, we'll be providing this cool little flour sack. Here's the Maya version, and here is the Blender version of the character. Not exactly the same, but they are very similar. Now let's talk about animation software in general. If you look at this entire screen, it looks like the cockpit of a space shuttle. There's so many buttons, menus, et cetera, it can be really easy to get lost. So to simplify your life, I decided to create the Lynda shelf.
