Understanding GI in V-Ray
- [Narrator] The V-Ray render engine comes equipped not only with a complete and versatile set of light types as briefly outlined in the previous exercise but also with some extremely powerful and production tested global illumination or GI engines that can, again, help us recreate pretty much any lighting scenario that we may have in mind and if we just open up the 3s match, render setup dialog we can take a look at where these tools can be found, which is in the appropriately named GI tab. This giving us access to three different high quality global illumination systems. The feature sets of which are robust and powerful enough to give us the ability to easily switch between physically correct and artistically correct approaches to our lighting setups. Of course, what these systems ultimately do is remove a lot of the guesswork that would otherwise be involved should we try to work it…
