Use the 3ds Max Asset Library
- [Instructor] Another way to access substance materials is through 3ds Max's Asset Library. Now, if you don't have this installed you can get it through the Autodesk App Store. So, if you go to apps.autodesk.com and do a search for 3ds Max Asset Library you should get a page that looks something like this. So, go ahead and download and install it if you haven't already. Now, when you install it, it comes up as a separate program. So here I have it on my desktop. So if you load this up you'll see that we have all sorts of content available. We have CG Trader and because we installed the Substance plug-in we also have Substance Source, and so this allows me to find whatever type of material I want. So, for example if I have Camouflage Military, or Ceramic Tiles, and so on. So all of these are available. Now, a lot of these are actually purchasable. And so, if you have Autodesk credits each one of these typically costs one credit. Now, this is a great way to get really rich and realistic textures into your scenes very, very quickly, and the amount that you will spend on one of these pales in comparison for how long it would take to create that from scratch. So really, I find this is a great resource for materials. Now, you can also drag your own materials into this Asset Library as well. So, if I were to for example go into my material libraries here in my ExerciseFiles folder, so go into 3ds Max, material libraries, and this is the Allegorithmic materials that we brought in previously, and I can just drag this folder into my Asset Library as well and now I can access those materials if I want. So, if you want to have access to the full range of substance materials go ahead and install the 3ds Max Asset Library.
