Using 8-bit maps in Arnold
- [Instructor] Having seen just how easily we can work with floating point files from Substance Designer, what we want to take a look at in this video is what, if any, difference exists should we decide to work with 8-bit files instead. To get started, we will need to follow pretty much the same steps as in the previous exercise, and so back in Substance Designer, let's once again set our width and height output sixes to three and three. And then right-click on the red brick graph and choose the Export Outputs as Bitmaps option. This time, we want to save to the .jpeg folder, and of course we want to output as standard .gif-compliant .jpeg files, using the Save All button. In 3DS Max, let's jump into the Wall EXR tab in the slate material editor, select all of the nodes found there, and then, holding down the Shift key, left-click and drag to create copies of them.
