Using the Modeling ribbon
- [Instructor] The ribbon is a panel holding tools from modeling, procedural animation, and placement of objects in the scene. I've got the ribbon hidden, currently. I'll reveal it from its button on the main toolbar. Show ribbon. And also expand the full ribbon. Click on the button to show the full ribbon. There are five tabs within the ribbon. Let's take a look at these. On the right is 'populate.' That's a procedural animation system for simulating crowds of people. The next tab is 'object paint' which holds tools for instancing or placing many objects in the scene. I covered object paint in earlier version of this course, 3ds Max 2016 Essential Training. The other three tabs, selection, free form, and modeling, will really only operate when two conditions are met. The modified panel must be active, we need to be in so called 'modify mode.'
