- For a good number of years in the recent past anyone trying to bring a published Substance file into 3ds Max that was created in version 4 or higher of the Substance design application would have been made painfully aware that the workflow was broken and had been for some time given that the default substance map that shipped with 3ds Max could only make use of files created in Substance Designer 3 and earlier. But of course the good news is that more recently the situation has changed quite dramatically with version 2 of the newly-revamped Substance to 3ds Max plugin being released in August of this year, so 2018. What we want to cover in this brief video then is where this plugin can currently be found although you do need to keep in mind that, dependent on exactly when you get to watch this course, this information may have changed at some point, and we also want to show how we would go about installing the plugin and interacting with it inside the 3ds Max UI.
