The V-Ray Mesh light
- [Narrator] Having looked at using the plane, dome, and sphere lights in V-Ray, time to continue our exploration of the light types available and look next at the mesh option, hopefully demonstrating in the process just how quick and easy it is in V-Ray next, to turn a piece of scene geometry into a genuine, direct light source. To do this, let's come over to the scene explorer, and then search for and select the geo_light_grill object. What we can do now, with any piece of scene geometry selected, is come over to the V-Ray toolbar, hit the V-Ray mesh light option, and, that's it. Our geometry has now been turned into a genuine light source in the scene, with, as we can see, all of the same controls and sphere lights that we have already looked at. In fact, let's open up the V-Ray frame buffer window and kick off an IPR render, so that we can see these in action. In the unit dropdown, we can still choose to work with real-world light output values, if we wanted. From the color mode…
