Varying textures with OSL Randomized Bitmaps

- [Instructor] With the introduction of open shading language, we've seen an explosion in amazing options for texture mapping in 3ds Max. Today we'll learn about the Randomized Bitmaps map, which lets us vary our textures in super interesting and useful ways. This is a technique that started in real time games and simulations in order to reduce the memory footprint of textures. Instead of loading a giant bitmap to cover a large area, we can load one or more smaller bitmaps and tile them in a random pattern. But this technique goes beyond mere memory management to become a creative tool for generating more interesting textures. As always, with OSL, we will get a very good Viewport preview if we set it up right. We need to enable realistic materials to see an accurate preview.
