Welcome

- [Instructor] Hi, I'm Adam Crespi; and welcome to 3ds Max Revit Integration. In this course, we'll look at taking a model from Autodesk Revit into Autodesk 3ds Max. We'll start out in Revit assessing our model, looking at breaking up large surfaces, assessing large areas, and seeing what we need to do for a smooth transition. We'll get materials on objects and get things ready to transfer over, and then we'll explore different ways of exporting out of Revit. In 3ds Max, we'll look at different import options and figure out what's the best one for our workflow. We'll look at how objects come in, to see if they're instanced or copied, and how do we separate things, by object or by material. We'll also generate some new materials here in 3ds Max, making sure that we get really good looking materials applied to our objects; and as part of that, we'll explore modifying UVW mapping, seeing really how to get things textured properly so they look great. We'll augment some terrain and also look at adjusting lighting, wiring together lights on a dimmer, that way we can adjust them easily in an animation. Finally, we'll check out a little bit of rendering using our rendering as a way to test model fidelity and see if there's anything we need to adjust when we finally get to our production rendering. Good design visualization is really foundational in communicating the design intent, and so getting a good workflow established from Revit to 3ds Max is crucial. So let's get started.
