- [Instructor] Before you start lighting a scene, you will need to make a decision about how you want to light your scene. Do you want to use real-world lighting? Or do you want to be a little bit more casual and just light to make the scene look good? Now, if you want to use real-world lighting, typically, you want to use a lighting model that matches that of the architecture that we're using so that you can get real-world renders of what it will exactly look like. And for that, you'll want to be using Photometric lights. Now if we go over to the Create panel to Lighting, you'll see that 3ds Max has a number of different ones. At the top of the list is Photometric lights. And these are real-world lights that actually match lights that you can buy off the shelf.
