Z-Depth
- The Zed or Z depth Render Element in V-Ray assigns and then renders a grayscale value for every pixel in the image based on an object's distance from the rendering camera in the scene. To take a look at how this shows up inside the V-Ray frame before window, let's add the ZED depth option to the Render Elements list, inside the Render set of dialogue. And then take a render, now the grayscale values that we see as we switch over to looking at the ZED depth pass in the Channel Dropdown, aren't assigned to specific distances in the seams or 50% gray isn't assigned to points that are 50 meters from the camera for instance, because the values are in fact assigned according to where they sit in relation to the rendering camera and the min and max settings on the Render Element itself with pixels at the min value, starting out as pure white and pixels at the far point rendering as pure black, everything in between this of course,…
