Windows Phone has a small but growing contingent of followers, from both end users and manufacturers. Like iOS and Android, the hoops you need to jump through when targeting Windows Phone are very specific and detailed. Let me show you how to get up and running. There are a number of ways to get there, but a key URL for app developers is developer.windowsphone.com. Before you start downloading the SDK from here, however, you want to make sure that you have the right hardware. You'll need a PC or a PC emulator running Windows 8 64 bit Pro. That pro extension is important, and it has to be a 64 bit machine. When you've verified your OS, click the Download Devtools link. The Windows Phone SDK is a self contained development system, much like x code or the Android SDK with the clips. Windows phone uses Visual Studio as it's primary IDE.
