Audio warping overview

- [Instructor] Time-stretching audio is one of Live's best known features. Let's take a look at how Live analyzes and processes audio in order to time-stretch clips and learn to choose a work mode that best matches the musical situation. Let's start by just basically defining what time-stretching or warping is. So, in order for clips that were recorded at differing tempos to play at the same tempo, we need to change the tempo of those clips. And in the old days when we did this by speeding up or slowing down a tape deck, you'd end up with a clip that also changed pitch. So, for the most part, today when we time-stretch or warp a clip, we change the tempo without changing the pitch. So for time-stretching or warping to work in Live, able to analyze as each audio file clip and determines the location of all the attacks or transients contained within that clip.
