Drum racks

- [Instructor] The third type of rack is the drum rack. These racks allow you to create custom drum sets and map samples to pads where they can be independently triggered and processed. Let's take a look at how to set up a basic drum rack, and then I'll show you how to use a nested instrument rack, so that you can layer multiple samples for your kick and snare sounds. So let's go ahead and open up exercise three from chapter 13, and let's add a drum rack to this first track here. So I'm going to go to the drums category, the browser, and I'm going to grab this default drum rack, and I'm going to drag and drop that on the track. Now you'll notice this looks a little bit different than the other racks that we've looked at, and that's because a drum rack has these pads, and on each one of these pads you'll notice that there is a midi note name. So a sample that you drop on that pad can be triggered from a mini keyboard when that note is pressed and only that note. Let's do a search and…
