- [Instructor] Tracks often need a bit of help to fit with or stand out against the other tracks in a mix. So let's take a look at how you can add audio effects to both audio and MIDI tracks in Ableton Live. So let's open up exercise one from chapter 10. And I'll start by mentioning that this particular video is an overview in preparation for the next several videos where we'll take a look at specific effect devices. So in general, audio effects are used to change some characteristic of an audio signal. For example, EQs and filters can be used to help shape the tone of a signal, where a compressor is used to control the dynamic range of a signal. Or you might use a reverb or delay device to create a sense of space or ambience. Now the audio effects in Ableton Live can be located in one of three areas of the browser.
