MIDI controller setup and preferences

- [Instructor] If you've chosen Ableton Live as your computer music production software, it's likely that you're looking to create music using your MIDI keyboard and Live's virtual instruments. Let's take a look at how to set up your MIDI controllers to work with Live. I've got a default set open, and I'm going to check my MIDI setup by going into preferences. On a Mac, that would be under the Live menu, and on a PC, under the Options menu. I'll select Preferences, and once that's open, I'm going to go ahead and click the Link MIDI tab. Thankfully, it's fairly simple to set up most MIDI controllers today. In fact, there are third-party manufacturers that work with Ableton to ensure that their devices take advantage of all of Live's special features. Those devices are referred to as native devices, and we can set those up in this area under where it says MIDI. In fact, when you simply open up Preferences and go to the Link MIDI tab, it's likely that you may actually see your device…
