- So one of the best tools ever for pitch shifting and time stretching is called melodyne. This app was originally designed as a way to correct vocals, which at the time was the contender for Auto-Tune. When melodyne came out, Auto-Tune only had the capability to work automatically, leaving a lot to chance. Melodyne lets you get in there and make finite adjustments by hand, allowing for a more natural sound. As the years went on, melodyne became a much more elaborate and feature-rich application. And now it's not only amazing to use for vocal correction, but also for sound design. I'm going to show you how to tweak a drum loop out here using melodyne. So let's play the loop. (drums play) As you can see it's, again, pretty standard. Now let's load up melodyne and get it transferred in. I'm using the plugin version within my DAW instead of the stand alone application.
