- Now that we've talked about putting together a template for production, I'd like to talk about templating for recording. This is something that I really rely on a lot because when I record it's often a lot less simple than just having one track going, but I find there are a lot of things I can do that will actually make the process simpler for me and then, by the transient property of simplicity and creative mojo, will make the experience much better for the artist I'm working with. Now, one of the situations that you might find yourself in that I find requires a lot of preparation and a lot of thought before hand, is recording vocalist. Why is it important to do this with vocalists in particular? Well, because vocalists, and sorry for any vocalists out there listening, but vocalists can be very temperamental, so it's really important to make sure they don't get spooked or anything like that.
