- [Instructor] Drawing in graphical automation doesn't always yield the most musical results, especially with fader rides and other parameters where you need to make lots of small changes. If you have a controller with knobs and faders, I'd suggest using them to record your automation. So let's take a look at how to record real time automation in both arrangement and session views. So, let's open up exercise four from chapter 15 and let's add some automation on to this first pad track. Now I'd like to see the automation as we do this so I'm going to go up and click the automation mode button so that it's enabled. And I've got the mixer and track volume already selected here but if yours isn't selected, remember that you can just go over and click in the volume field so that you can see that line of automation displayed.
