- Now for all you Live users out there I thought we'd take a look at some templating options in Ableton Live. Now you may be saying, but Evan, Ableton Live does not have a template engine or function. It doesn't, that's true. But Ableton Live happens to have one of the best preset management functions of basically any of the DAWs. It's really great for that. So what I encourage you to do, first of all, you can always have a session that is called simply TEMPLATE. That's super handy. You can always save something like that and then start with that but remember since it's not an actual template you have to do a Save As and call it Hot Idea 6. And then make sure that it's not saved in the same folder. The other thing that you can do is you can always pull things from projects in the Places menu. Okay, so if I hit Add Folder I can look for things in the finder and find stuff and pull tracks and different ideas and maybe even audio out of different projects and different folders that are…
