Using an amp envelope to shape volume
- Anyone who is curious about shaping sound will soon realize that performers of acoustic instruments make frequent volume changes to shape notes and phrases. In order to enable users to emulate this aspect of human performance, the creators of (mumbles) added a device called an envelope generator. Analog has envelope generators that can control aspects of volume, tone, and pitch. Let's start by taking a look at controlling volume using Analog's amp envelope. You're going to want to go to the exercise folder, and open up the exercise 1_07 Amp Envelope. Once you get that open, if we play a key (music note) you'll hear we have a very basic sound set up that's using just a square wave and a sine wave. So I'm using a routing that's taking both oscillators through filter 1 and then over to amp 1, and I'm going to select the amp 1 shell so that we can see the parameters that are available there.
