Why use templates?
- One of the things that we're going to talk about a lot in this course, at least in the first half, is the idea of using templates. It's a great advantage that we have, using the computer for creating and producing music, that we can use templates. We can have things that are saved, we can have things that we like ready to go, and there are great systems in all three of the major DAWs that I like to use for templating. The DAW that we're going to use preliminarily to talk about templates is Logic. Logic has a great templating system but also, Logic is like the middle ground between Ableton Live and Pro Tools, so I feel like everybody will be able to get something from it even though we're only going to talk in a philosophical sense. I'm not going to go super in-depth with Logic so hopefully everyone can still stay with it, and then we'll talk specifically about Pro Tools and Ableton Live afterwards.
