- [Instructor] With the recent come back in interest in hardware synthesizers, it's likely that some of you may want to connect your external devices to Ableton so that you can include those sounds in your projects. Let's take a look at a couple of ways that you can route MIDI2 and receive audio from your external devices. So I've just got a default set open, and let me tell you about the equipment that I'm using here for this video. So I've got my M-Audio Axiom keyboard hooked up to my computer using a USB cable, and then I've got a MIDI cable going from the MIDI out my M-Audio keyboard to the MIDI in on a Roland synthesizer. Then to route audio, I've got an audio cable from the output of that Roland synth plugged into one of the inputs on my audio interface, and that input on the interface is set to an instrument input.
