Working with simple variation: How much is too much?

- So now that I've got some basic ideas down, one thing that I like to do is create some variations. So for example, I've left a little space here for a drum fill, and that's something that I can work with. So if I just create a little loop here, I can just start to work with my drum fill. I'm going to turn on my metronome. I'm on percussion, I want drums. There that's good, that's actually kind of nice. (electronic music) Alright, so that's pretty good. I'm going to go ahead and actually quantize that. And I think that this sound will be good on eight notes. Alright so there's my fill, that's a nice variation there that's going to create a little bit of movement. We don't have to listen to the whole thing. (electronic music) And then maybe... This is what's fun about the glitch kit, is that you can really come up with some interesting things with sounds that you may not have used before. Alright, let's go ahead and mute this note.
