Aging into disability

- As we grow older, our capabilities change. If we're lucky, we aren't affected too drastically by our changing eyesight or hearing, mobility, or other abilities. But the reality is, one in five of us will have some type of a disability over our lifetime. I try not to admit it, but I really can't read the words on a medicine container anymore. I don't have glasses or contacts but I often take photos of the dosage or instructions with my phone and then zoom into the photo to read it. At some point, I'm sure it will be bad enough that I do need glasses. That's just the reality for so many of us. Remember that every persona that we've looked at and all the functional needs that we've discussed, are concepts that will help you design for any ability. Any permanent disability might also be temporary. Like a broken arm, or being in a loud environment where there's a lot of glare on your screen.
