Direct job costs
- [Instructor] General expenses and equipment expenses are examples of direct job expenses, items that are not on your takeoff sheets, but still need to be added to your estimate. Do you remember discussing the expense sheets in my Construction Estimating Bid Extension course? Here's where we are going to fill in those expenses onto the bid recap sheet. Items such as equipment, whether we own it or rent it, we need to charge for the type of equipment that we use on a job. Like a small excavating tractor, an electric scissors lift, a gas-powered plate tamper, testing equipment, or any other large-ticket equipment that we may use on a job, whose cost is not included in your overhead calculation. Consumable items. Throughout the course of a project, it's very likely that we'll consume tools and other commodities in order to build the job. Some examples of this would be; gasoline to run our equipment, rags and duct tape used to wipe down or secure materials, even drill bits or saw blades…
