- [Instructor] Although most materials are priced on takeoff sheets, some larger items and larger quantities of items are priced by a lump sum quote. Materials such as windows, toilets, electrical panel boards, or any other large quantity, high value items that are typically sold by the individual project by one manufacturer would fall in this category. Many times the specifications of the project dictate the pricing of the materials, and they must be reviewed by the manufacturers. That's the main reason this type of material is quoted and not unit priced. Estimators must review and compare these quotes to find the lowest responsible quotation price to use in their estimate. Make sure the quotation price that you use is from a reputable vendor who can provide the materials as specified without exception and in conformance with the schedule of the project.
