Adding a product

- [Narrator] Now we're going to be setting up our products. This is where we will populate your shop with purchasable goods. Let's see how we can do this. The first thing to do is to make a product name, then you're going to add a product description. And if you scroll down, you'll be able to fill out details about your particular product. So this is where you're going to specify what type of product it is. We have different product data that we can add. We have simple products, grouped products, external/affiliate products and variable products. This product is going to be a simple product. I'm going to put the regular price for the product and I won't add a sale price at this point in time. Inventory is where you can specify whether the product is in stock or not. So if it's a physical product and you know what the inventory is, you can go ahead and jot down the quantity and whether you accept back orders. Shipping is where you can specify the weight and dimensions for the different shipping classes. Since our products are all free to ship, we're not going to worry about anything here. Linked products is where you can include related products that will get recommended, upsales or cross sales when you create product groups. The attributes section is where you can find custom product attributes, like color and size. This isn't going to pertain to the flag so we'll just skip this area. And in advanced, you can add other purchase notes that will be sent to customers after a purchase. We also have a field for a short description so I'm going to grab my short description and add that and finally, over here on the right, we're going to set a product image. So I'm going to click Set Product Image, I'll navigate to the image that I want to use and set that as my product image and now the product is pretty much set up. So we'll go ahead and we'll click Publish. And now we have a simple product set up. I'm going to take you out to the web page so that you can see what this page looks like. This is the default layout. Obviously, it's going to show a picture of our product, it has the short description as well as the long description and then we can add the product to our cart and shop away.
