- [Presenter] One of the most important mechanisms we employ in UX is feedback. Feedback is the system's response to the user's action. If you've ever submitted a form and not received a response, you've likely felt confused on whether the system worked and whether you had to do it again. Feedback gives users the confidence that their action was acknowledged by the system. Feedback is incorporated into everything we design, from how buttons behave on click to receiving an email confirmation on your new account signup. Jacob Nielsen, a prominent usability expert, has detailed three crucial time periods when it comes to time delay responses, less than a second, one second, and 10 seconds. Less than a second is a short enough delay that the user doesn't require any special indication of an activity that has occurred.
