Imaging: What's with all the Xs?
- [Instructor] If you're going to mess up one aspect of UX design, I can pretty well guarantee it will be the imaging. It has everything to do with Xs. Let me explain. Have you ever opened a mobile site or app on your smartphone and realized, "Gee, these images are tiny"? Here's why. There are thousands of different devices being used, ranging from flip phones to the watch on your wrist. Each one contains a screen, but no two screens are the same. It has nothing to do with the size of the screen, but everything to do with the pixels displaying your content. Some screens have more pixels jammed into the screen than others, and therein lies the root of the problem. For the longest time, the device manufacturers engaged in what I call the resolution wars. By jamming more pixels into their screens, they could claim they have the most realistic or lifelike experience, which is why Apple actually calls their screen density…
