Modals

- [Instructor] Modals are windows that focus the user's attention. They're intended to keep users in the context of the task at hand rather than pulling them out of the experience. Modals can be used for onboarding, exiting, continuing tasks, or for creating a task. When modals are activated, the user can only interact with the modal window and must take an action to dismiss the modal. As a result of its highly focused behavior, modals should be used sparingly. They're not as useful for a confirmation, system alert, or for messages that don't require an interruption. A better pattern would be a system message for these use cases. Exceptions to this would be if you're exiting a flow and you want to display a confirmation before the user leaves. Sometimes you'll see this pattern on e-commerce websites.
